The Role

 

The Weigh/Blend Lead provides frontline leadership and operational support for the Weighing and Blending departments, supporting a team of approximately 10 to 20 team members. Working closely with the Production Team Leader, this role coordinates daily workflow, assigns resources, and supports the safe, efficient, and compliant execution of production schedules. The Weigh/Blend Lead serves as a key technical resource, providing coaching, training, and guidance to team members while promoting a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement. This position supports adherence to cGMP requirements, SOPs, batch record documentation, and company policies to help achieve productivity, quality, and service objectives.

 

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Provide frontline leadership and operational support for the Weighing and Blending departments.
  • Coordinate daily workflow and assign team members to support production schedules, departmental priorities, and customer commitments.
  • Serve as a primary technical resource for team members by providing coaching, guidance, and real-time problem solving.
  • Support the Production Team Leader in driving a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Monitor shop order progress and coordinate the flow of materials and work through the department to ensure on-time completion.
  • Promote and enforce compliance with cGMP requirements, SOPs, batch records, company policies, and safety procedures.
  • Assist with onboarding, training, cross-training, qualification, and development of department team members.
  • Identify operational issues, resource constraints, quality concerns, and safety risks, escalating concerns to the Production Team Leader when appropriate.
  • Coordinate daily activities with Production Team Leaders, Supervisors, Schedulers, Warehouse personnel, Quality, and other cross-functional partners to support manufacturing objectives.
  • Support departmental readiness by coordinating material staging, equipment availability, and work assignments.
  • Monitor department performance and help drive productivity, quality, and service goals through effective execution and employee engagement.
  • Facilitate effective shift-to-shift communication to ensure continuity of operations and alignment on priorities.
  • Maintain proficiency in all Weighing and Blending processes and provide hands-on support when business needs require.
  • Utilize RedZone, iPads, and other business systems to communicate, document, and monitor departmental activities.
  • Review and reconcile batch documentation and production records for accuracy, completeness, and compliance prior to handoff or completion.
  • Conduct routine observations and audits to verify compliance with safety, quality, documentation, and operational standards.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and recommend process enhancements that improve safety, quality, delivery, or efficiency.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Basic Requirements

 

Experience / Training / Education 

 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Technical, vocational, or manufacturing-related training preferred.
  • 2–5 years of manufacturing experience, preferably in Weighing, Blending, or a related production environment.
  • Previous Lead, Trainer, Mentor, or informal leadership experience preferred.

 

Knowledge of 

 

  • Working knowledge of manufacturing processes, equipment, and production workflow.
  • Knowledge of cGMP requirements, SOPs, batch records, and quality documentation practices.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple priorities and adapt to changing production demands.
  • Strong communication, coaching, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, RedZone, iPads, and other business systems.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and mathematical skills, including the use of the metric system.
  • Ability to work effectively with team members, supervisors, managers, and cross-functional partners.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
  • Must maintain proficiency in all Weighing and Blending processes and be capable of performing the duties of the Batch Formulation Weigher, Batch Formulation Blender I, and Batch Formulation Blender II positions.

Additional Requirements

  • cGMP training and compliance required.
  • Safety-sensitive position.
  • Ability to safely operate manufacturing equipment and material handling devices as required.

Physical requirements

  • Work is performed in a manufacturing environment
  • Stands and walks to other stations and departments throughout the day
  • Uses hands and fingers to operate computers and office equipment most of the day
  • May stoop or crouch to access files or storage
  • Requires clear vision at 20 inches or less with or without corrective lenses
  • Hearing and speech within normal ranges and sufficient for clear communication face to face and especially via the telephone
  • Lifts up to 10 pounds regularly; lifts 25 pounds occasionally
  • Exposed to noise levels typical of office environments

Compensation

 

The current range for this role based out of [Gig Harbor WA ] is $24.50 with a $1.00 Shift Differential for working 2nd shift. 

 

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.  

 

This role may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
