The Role

 

The Senior Accountant of Global Accounting plays a key role in assisting the Senior Manager of Global Accounting with overseeing accounting policies and financial reporting practices across the Regions to ensure compliance with US GAAP and/or IFRS or local requirements. They assist with the process of preparing the annual global consolidated US GAAP financial statements and accompanying footnotes and ensure they meet disclosure requirements. This role will require working knowledge of US GAAP, with the ability to identify, research and communicate findings on technical accounting issues. This role will consult and work with outside auditors, valuation consulting firms or other consultants as needed in the US and other Regions. This role will be required to understand the differences between US GAAP and IFRS or local country reporting standards and ensure appropriate accounting entries are recorded for these differences. This role will serve as a trusted partner with all regions ensuring consistent Global accounting and reporting. This role will also support the month-end close process, taking hands on responsibility for the Global consolidations of certain regions in partnership with the Manager, Global Financial Reporting. This will include consolidating journal entries, elimination entries and inter-company reconciliations.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with Regional teams to ensure proper compliance of accounting policies (local and GAAP)
  • Maintain and update existing policies for changes in guidance or business practices and draft new accounting policies to address new guidance or business activities
  • Prepare Global annual GAAP financial statements (Balance Sheet, Profit & Loss, Cash Flows) and accompanying footnote disclosures
  • Support adoption and any new accounting standards and lead the evaluation of documenting the impact on the company in technical memos
  • Research and prepare summarized recommendations of complex accounting issues and be able to recommend your findings to both internal management and external auditors
  • Support year-end audit process as an integral team member
  • Support month-end close process by assisting with consolidation of regions to include preparing/reviewing journal entries as required (Regional uploads not in D365, intercompany eliminations, intercompany reconciliations)
  • Support balance sheet reviews on a monthly and quarterly basis through review of results and interaction with Regional Accounting teams
  • Act as key liaison to all regions for reporting needs and accounting questions
  • Develop process to enhance controls and understanding of all regions by managing and monitoring financial reporting of all regions through balance sheet reviews and/or Power BI reporting
  • Provide key voice for global GAAP accounting issues; supporting position with research and understanding IFRS vs GAAP differences and present findings to management
  • Serve as key accounting contact and develop processes for opening of new regions to establish controls for consolidations and accounting
  • Research, prepare, and present technical accounting briefs related to proper accounting treatment for Company transactions as needed (GAAP issues or questions)
  • Special Ad Hoc Projects as needed (LeaseQuery or FloQast for account reconciliations)
  • Foster team attitude within Accounting Groups across all Regions
  • Assist in preparing quarterly compliance documents for lenders and stakeholders

Basic Requirements

 

Experience / Training / Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting or Finance
  • 3+ years of accounting experience, public accounting preferred
  • CPA heavily preferred

Skills/Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP requirements
  • Understanding of IFRS vs GAAP differences
  • Ability to identify, research, seek outside expert opinions and comprehend findings to present complex accounting issues to management
  • Takes initiative to drive process and results across all Regions
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Microsoft Dynamics D365 experience a plus
  • Experience in Microsoft Power BI, Tableau or other business intelligence software is a plus
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills with ability to get to root cause
  • Ability to challenge current processes and innovate
  • Demonstrated success working in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to partner with cross functional teams and present ideas to management
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written as you will be preparing presentations)

  • Ability to work professionally with both internal and external customers at all levels of the organization

Compensation

 

The current range for this role based out of Aliso Viejo, CA is $101,215/yr. - $124,617.15/yr.

 

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.  

 

This role may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
