The Role

The Regional Innovation Manager is accountable for defining and executing the long-term innovation strategy, roadmap and develop and execute the pipeline for the relevant region.  

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of the long-term innovation strategy & roadmap for the region, aligning global and local stakeholders.
  • Leverage global innovation to achieve regional financial goals and strategic outcomes.
  • Develop innovation pipeline, including product innovation, consumer claims & repositioning.
  • Collaborate with local & global marketing teams, Research & Innovation, Procurement and P&D teams on product innovation, consumer claims, repositioning.
  • Lead the regional innovation process and prepare and present global and local approvals (concepts, business cases, P&L, forecasting)
  • Drive Strategic Portfolio Management that strengthens the base business through package, product and/or claim updates.
  • Build capabilities and upskill the team and the organization as it relates to Innovation and New product development – providing frameworks, tools, establishing or improving process, R&R, training, and coaching.
  • Lead cross functional communication with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Identify where to play and where to win categories for region based on Global Category strategies.  
  • Lead in partnership with global and local marketing, R&D, consumer insights, sales to identify growth opportunities, consumer unmet needs, emerging trends.
  • Partner with Consumer Insights to conduct market research to help inform recommendations.
  • Understand the global natural medicines and Vitamins & Supplements market and provide in depth understanding of consumers, competitors, portfolio, products.
  • Ongoing analysis of business data, sales information, competitive insights, consumer research, and other meaningful information to shape innovation roadmap.
  • Provide strategic direction to cross-functional partners (marketing, Sales, R&D, Supply Chain, and Finance) in the development and execution of innovation strategy and pipeline.  
  • Lead business case, financial targets and forecasts in partnership with finance and regional commercial teams.
  • Support development of innovation launch toolkits & handovers to regions.
  • Collaborate with Global Marketing Managers on category strategies & innovation ideation.
  • Portfolio & product lifecycle management for region.

Basic Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 10 years’ experience in Marketing/Innovation, with experience in consumer-packaged goods
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and cultivate collaborative and inclusive relationships and lead cross-functional teams
  • Demonstrated ability to define a portfolio vision and strategy and successfully bring the organization along to achieve flawless execution
  • Excellent multi-tasking and prioritization skills
  • Experience to command presence, influence and effectively lead senior executive level communication
  • Ability to read and analyze financials, consumer research, and syndicated data and trends, and synthesize data into compelling insights to drive growth, improve ROI and overall help contribute to the thriving health of the business
  • Advanced communication and presentation skills -   Desired:
  • Project management experience including stage-gate methodology
  • Experience in design thinking methodologies

Compensation

 

The current range for this role based out of Aliso Viejo, CA is $145,000/yr. to $162,000/yr.

 

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.  

 

This role may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
