The Role

Metagenics is a nutraceutical company based in the south sound of the PNW. We are seeking a Pressroom Operator to join our in-house digital print shop. The candidate will be an experienced pre-press technician and or have digital printing experience. This position requires knowledge of all aspects of digital printing and its associated processes. The role is to produce high quality labels, accurately, efficiently for our internal packaging lines.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the operation of our HP Indigo press.
  • Perform pre-press duties such as pre-flight of artwork files, impose, submit and release print jobs to the press.
  • Maintain departmental electronic job tracking.
  • Knowledge of finishing equipment is preferred: Digicon, Rotoflex, AVT SW and Reconcile Counter
  • Set up files for optimum press output and make file correction as needed.
  • Set up, operate and assist in regularly scheduled maintenance.
  • Analyze artwork files for fonts, images, integrity, and printability.
  • Correctly completes routine operator level maintenance to their trained level of competence.
  • Willingness to work in various press-room areas: pre-press, print and finishing.
  • Processing of variable data.
  • Job duties subject to reasonable change based on business needs.

Basic Requirements

 

Experience/Training/Education:

  • 2-3 years in a digital print environment performing pre-press and or HP Indigo operator functions, preferable on a HP Indigo Series 2 and higher.
  • Strong visual inspection skills and the ability to detect quality defects, ensure color accuracy and print registration.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a demanding environment.
  • Knowledge and experience with color matching systems, ability to recognize and visually differentiate colors.
  • Troubleshoot press, print related issues, and take the appropriate action.
  • Support the management of accurate records.
  • Knowledge of HP PrintOS Production Pro, Adobe Creative Suite, and Esko Software preferred.
  • Performs additional job duties assigned by the Pressroom Supervisor or Packaging Manager
  • Communicates job specific information of changes to the Pressroom Supervisor in a timely manner to minimize downtime.
  • Knowledge of ERP driven systems

Skills/Abilities:

  • Displays a proactive and positive attitude.
  • Ability to learn quickly, improvise, display sound judgement and common sense.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Good proofing skills with the ability to read and apply math functions, including decimals, fractions, and percentages.
  • Ability to travel 10%.
  • Ability to work overtime.

Compensation

 

The current range for this role based out of Gig Harbor, WA is $26/hr to $31/hr.

 

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.  

 

This role may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.

 

Physical requirements/working conditions:

  • Sits at a computer station, meeting table or work desk for more than two-thirds of each day
  • Stands and walks to other stations and departments throughout the day
  • Uses hands and fingers to operate computers and office equipment most of the day
  • May stoop or crouch to access files or storage
  • Requires clear vision at 20 inches or less with or without corrective lenses
  • Hearing and speech within normal ranges and sufficient for clear communication face to face and especially via the telephone
  • Lifts up to 10 pounds regularly; lifts 25 pounds occasionally
  • Exposed to noise levels typical of office environments
