    Metagenics is seeking a Genomics Platform Lead to join our team! In this role, you will guide the development of personalized medicine and Nutrigenetics (NGX) tools within Metagenics. This role encompasses data analysis of internal data sets in addition to evaluation of external data sources and publications to refine NGX recommendations. An additional focus will be to evaluate application of AI to treatment response. You will work cross-functionally with clinical development, IT, nutrition science and commercial team across multiple locations in a highly collaborative environment. This role will require effective project coordination and communication skills.     Responsibilities

     

    Project Planning and Management

    • Lead the development of clinician-focused personalized medicine tools and Nutrigenetics (NGX) platform within Metagenics
    • Create a data analysis pipeline for integrating genetic information with clinical biomarker and treatment response data, and conduct this data analysis
    • Critically evaluate available NGX literature
    • Lead discussions with clinical and academic experts to refine strategy and program plans
    • Evaluate use of machine learning approaches for clinical tool development
    • Represent research findings to leadership and project teams
    • Professionally represents the organization in collaborations, partnership discussions and external conferences
    • Develop key messages around the nature of genetic association data and need for context (biomarkers). Outline foundational education information on genetics, NGX, advancements and limitations
    • Evaluate and create a set of currently accepted NGX, pharmacogenetic and GWAS risk association data
    • Establish/maintain professional relationships with prominent NGX organizations

    Experience / Training / Education

     

    • PhD in a relevant quantitative subject (e.g. Genetics, Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Nutrigenomics)
    • S. in Life Science with minimum 10 years of relevant analytical experience and distinguished publication record.
    • Demonstrable statistical skills with experience analyzing human genetic information including relevant QC and integration of genetic data with clinical biomarkers
    • Ability to critically evaluate genetic association and nutrigenetics studies
    • Clear communicator with experience presenting ideas and scientific concepts to a variety of audiences including lay audience
    • Ability to work well with others in a multidisciplinary environment

     

    Knowledge of

     

    • Human genetics and genomics
    • Human physiology
    • Biochemistry

     

    Skills/Abilities

     

    • Ability to independently define problems, collect data, establish facts, prioritize, and draw valid conclusions to accomplish goals
    • Ability to interact effectively with a wide variety of personality types

    Physial Requirements/working conditions: 

     

    • Sits at a computer station, meeting table or work desk for more than two-thirds of each day
    • Stands and walks to other stations and departments throughout the day
    • Uses hands and fingers to operate computers and office equipment most of the day
    • May stoop or crouch to access files or storage
    • Requires clear vision at 20 inches or less with or without corrective lenses
    • Hearing and speech within normal ranges and sufficient for clear communication face to face and especially via the telephone
    • Lifts up to 10 pounds regularly; lifts 25 pounds occasionally
    • Exposed to noise levels typical of office environments
