    Responsibilities

     

    Position Overview:

     

    The Maintenance Engineering Manager is responsible for the execution of corporate led large capital projects, project engineering efforts in support of process improvement and process development activities. The Maintenance Engineering Manager works collaboratively with Corporate and Value Chain Management regarding expansion and modifications of manufacturing process equipment. This includes equipment specification, mechanical design, project definition, development of success criteria, management and execution of projects for production processing lines, quality improvements, testing equipment, and production / distribution facilities. This person will be required to supervise maintenance department personnel across 3 shifts, manage internal and external maintenance resources including electrical and general contractor companies, as necessary to complete project work. The Maintenance Engineering Manager is required to develop, write, maintain, and deploy company equipment engineering standards.

     

    What You'll Do:

    • Assumes role as corporate resource on process flows and equipment integration into manufacturing processes to insure seamless production of products
    • Sources new technology and equipment to increase manufacturing productivity
    • Provides Training and or training materials to appropriate plant personnel on new technology and equipment
    • Works closely with plant personnel, identify and initiate project and operational ideas to enhance plant systems and operations
    • Accountable for the preparation of objective project assessment including financial justification and evaluations such as Returns on Investment (ROI) evaluations
    • Performs other duties as assigned
    • Provides support to Value Chain through process design and evaluation; processes assessment, recommendation, and implementation; project management; and system troubleshooting and education
    • Challenges the status quo; continually seek ways to improve how work is accomplished
    • Leads and/or participates in continuous improvement team events and workshops and attend industry related trade shows
    • Proactively and collaboratively works with develops and implements manufacturing related projects dealing with productivity gain projects, safety projects, and cost savings projects, growth and acquisition. Partners with Sales / Marketing personnel to develop designs and cost estimates to support new product initiatives
    • Develops detailed “scopes of work” for planning and bid purposes
    • Develops and executes contractor/supplier contracts
    • Coordinates and conducts contractor bid meetings.
    • Develops and manages Capital Appropriation Requests
    • Communicates/Integrates the organization on the project from conceptualization through implementation.
    • Utilizes the AutoCAD system to define and document project layouts
    • Supplements Tech Services as a resource when necessary
    • Responsible for projects assigned by Sr. Director of Manufacturing and Sr. VP of Value Chain
    • Resource to Finance for providing correct asset depreciation life, correct asset assignment and timely closing of all corporate capital projects
    • Conducts post mortem evaluation of process/equipment performance against project ROI and efficiency targets to ensure continuity

    What you'll need:

     

    Experience / Training / Education

     

    • BS in Engineering, technical degree or equivalent experience
    • 2+ years progressive work experience in a technical field in manufacturing spent coordinating project activity with a demonstration of strong project engineering abilities
    • Experience with cross-functional development teams
    • Consumer Products manufacturing experience

     

    Knowledge of

     

    • Basic manufacturing knowledge
    • General knowledge of production procedures
    • Familiar with writing, revising, and implementing SOPs
    • Basic clerical skills

    Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

     

    • Work is performed in a manufacturing environment
    • Sits at a computer station, meeting table or work desk for more than two-thirds of each day
    • Stands and walks to other stations and departments throughout the day
    • Uses hands and fingers to operate computers and office equipment most of the day
    • May stoop or crouch to access files or storage
    • Requires clear vision at 20 inches or less with or without corrective lenses
    • Hearing and speech within normal ranges and sufficient for clear communication face to face and especially via the telephone
    • Lifts up to10 pounds regularly; lifts 25 pounds occasionally; lifts 50 pounds with assistance occasionally
    • Exposed to noise levels typical of manufacturing environments

    • Uses critical thinking skills to work with documents and spreadsheets and interpret information furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Able to review complex documents like contracts and leases. Able to review quantitative and qualitative work and identify questionable items
