    Position Overview:


    The Associate Product Manager works with the Category Manager(s) to assist in growing the sales and profitability of a specific category or categories of products in the Metagenics product line. The Associate Product Manager assists in in creating, coordinating and executing the strategies and tactics for product development, marketing and sales of the products in the portfolio. This position is involved in a broad range of marketing activities including market research, market analysis, planning, scheduling, budgeting, product development, advertising, sales support, PR and communications activities for the product categories. The Associate Product Manager will assist in specific project responsibilities and products within categories, under the direction of the Category Manager(s) and Directory of Category Management.


    This role requires strong partnering with functional leads and key stakeholders in Marketing, Regulatory, R&D, Sales, and several other technical departments to drive product development. Must have the ability to juggle multiple projects of varying scope under tight deadlines.


    What you'll do: 

    • Assist in developing the strategy for the Category in support of the corporate strategic objectives and marketing strategy
    • Strategize in developing the appropriate tactical plans necessary to execute the Category strategy
    • Manage specific projects and products in  specific Categories,  including assisting in market research, marketing analysis, planning, positioning, budgeting, product development, collateral development, advertising, PR, product training
    • Work with Category Managers to conduct market research on a Category to determine trends, opportunities, create product positioning and pricing, create forecasts, understand the life cycle of the products in the category and develop marketing programs
    • Work with the sales force to develop competitive product analysis, materials, strategies and marketing programs to help combat the competition
    • Work with Category Manager assisting in overseeing specific products to plan, measure and manage the overall advertising, PR, communications and collateral literature production for the Category
    • Work with Category Manager to help with budgeting responsibilities for the various marketing areas relative to the categories involved to ensure that overall profitability requirements are met
    • Work with the Category Manager and R&D to support the creation of new products in the Category, to stay ahead of the competition and provide the customer with the best in health care nutrition
    • Collaborate with R&D and to offer marketing guidance for product development and product improvements for the products in the Category
    • Contribute to the execution of the marketing plans as assigned efficiently; on time and coordinated with new product development, so as to optimize sales of all products and service

    Experience / Training / Education

    • BA/BS; Graduate Degree (MBA) preferred but not required equivalent experience with emphasis on marketing or branding
    • Proficient in essential computer software including all Microsoft Office programs, SharePoint, Finesse, InMotion, and Wrike
    • Experience coordinating the editing, review, and approval of nutraceutical, medical food, and dietary supplement labels to FDA standards
    • 1-2 years previous product management marketing experience, preferably involving health care products
    • Experience with marketing to healthcare providers or experience in sales is a plus
    • Training or experience in managing  budgets
    • Project management
    • Basic understanding of product development process
    • Understanding of positioning and pricing
    • Experience with graphic design, copy writing, advertising, PR, communication, planning and literature production
    • Highly organized
    • Good communication skills (oral and written communication), organization skills, project management and proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint (preferred);
    • Effective/dynamic presenter


     Knowledge of

    • Knowledge of inventory, forecasting, and budgeting processes
    • Document revision control and filing methods
    • Experience in the nutrition marketplace
    • Dietary supplement labeling and health claims regulations

    Physical Requirements and working conditions:

    • Requires clear vision at 20 inches or less with or without corrective lenses

    • Lifts up to10 pounds regularly; lifts 25 pounds occasionally
    • Exposed to noise levels typical of office environments
